Description

You need 5 pins. The programming connector on all Microchip have the pins MCLR_b, PGED, PGEC, VCC, GND. GND is obviously for the current return. The programmer senses power to the PIC with VCC, and set/reset the controller with MCLR_b (this pin requires an external pull-up resistor, usually 10K Ohms). The PGED and PGEC pins are data and clock pins reyltceiveps, of a modified SPI protocol. That should be all the connections you need.-J
